The dialog box opens when you click the Reset Master Password button on the Passwords page of the Settings dialog box, or the Reset Password button in the Change Master Password dialog box.

In this dialog box, specify or reset the master password for accessing the database where passwords for remote repositories are stored.

When you reset the master password, IntelliJ IDEA clears the history of all the previously existed master passwords.

New PasswordIn this text box, type the master password to use.
Confirm New PasswordIn this text box, repeat the master password to use.
Encrypt the master password with user credentialsWhen this check box is selected, IntelliJ IDEA encrypts the specified master password with your system login and password and does not request you to type the master password in the future.

Selecting this check box increases security risks.

This functionality is only available in the Windows operating system.

Set PasswordClick this button to have IntelliJ IDEA save and use the specified master password.

The button is available in the Master Password dialog box, which opens when you set the master password for the first time.

Reset PasswordClick this button to have IntelliJ IDEA save and use the specified master password and clear the history of previous master passwords.

The button is available in the Reset Master Password dialog box.
